Our principal has asked us to explore the option of Chugach Optional becoming an ASD charter school. In order to complete a feasibility assessment and present information necessary for the community to fully understand what becoming a charter would mean for Chugach, the CEC is forming a Charter Assessment Committee. This committee will be tasked with investigating key questions focused on financial, legal, academic and operational viability. The information gathered and analyzed by this committee will be presented to the community and lead to a vote on whether or not we move forward with a charter application at this time.
At a minimum, we are asking for two CEC board members, two staff members, and four community members (non-CEC board member parents, with strong representation from our Kindy and Primary families) to volunteer for this committee. Committee members should be able to commit at least 2-3 hours per week to this work. Final findings will be presented to the CEC board the first week of April and then presented at the Community Assembly Meeting on April 15.
If you would like to share ideas, questions, comments and/or are interested in serving on the committee, please click the button below and complete the survey. The CEC will leave this survey open through Friday, Jan. 30. This effort requires committed parents and strong community support. If you feel strongly about this, please join the committee!
