Each April, the CEC board gathers nominations for candidates willing to serve as officers on the CEC board the following school year and presents those to the community. At the Community Assembly Meeting (CAM) each May, the Community Assembly votes to approve next year's CEC board. A summary of each officer position is below. Serves a one-year term
Provides overall leadership for the CEC board
Facilitates CEC Executive and Community Assembly meetings
Sets meeting agendas in collaboration with other officers
Serves as the primary spokesperson and representative for CEC board
Handles official communications (emails, Facebook page, etc.)
Oversees implementation of fundraising, events, and initiatives
Leads strategic planning and support of organizational goals
Ensures compliance with bylaws, policies, and applicable regulations
Coordinates and supports event chairs and board members
Acts as a liaison between the CEC board and school leadership
Serves a one-year term as Vice President; assumes the role of President the following year
Assists the President in all duties and responsibilities
Presides over meetings in the absence of the President
Oversees committees and supports their activities
Helps coordinate fundraising, events, and initiatives
Assists with strategic planning and support of organizational goals
Steps into the President role if needed (interim or succession)
Serves one-year term
Responsible for annual filing with State of Alaska for status
Records accurate minutes of all CEC Executive and Community Assembly meetings
Distributes drafted minutes to the CEC board members by email, allowing for review and corrections, and reviews corrections prior to the next meeting
Finalizes minutes after approval at a subsequent meeting and ensures final minutes are organized and accessible on CEC website
Help maintain official records, documents, and correspondence
Supports official communications (emails, Facebook page, etc.)
Serves one-year term
Manages the CEC financial account and all transactions
Develops and monitors the annual CEC budget in coordination with CEC board
Prepares and presents regular budget reports for CEC Executive and Community Assembly meetings
Tracks all income and expenses in Quickbooks
Ensures timely payment of expenses and reimbursements
Maintains accurate financial records and documentation
Ensures compliance with reporting requirements
Provides regular budget updates to relevant Chugach community members (e.g., Big Simple spending for teachers, event budgets, special budget requests, etc.)
Serves one-year term as Vice Treasurer; assumes role of Treasurer the following year
Assists the Treasurer with financial duties
Steps in for the Treasurer when needed
Helps track income and expenses in Quickbooks
Assists with budgeting and financial reporting
Supports recordkeeping and financial organization
May oversee specific financial tasks (e.g., event funds, deposits)
Serves one-year term
Represents the Chugach community and acts as a liaison between community and CEC board
Participates in CEC Executive and Community Assembly meetings, discussions, and decision-making
Provides input, feedback, and new ideas
Supports fundraising and events, as needed
Takes on special assignments or projects as requested
(Examples of Member-at-Large activities during the 2025-26 year: organizing early-release fundraising events, supporting administrative projects, such as Constant Contact implementation, spearheading advocacy efforts, to include updating the CEC website and organizing relevant initiatives and events.)

Serves as liaison between the Parent Coordinator (PC) group and CEC board
Participates in CEC Executive and Community Assembly meetings, discussions, and decision-making
Coordinates and facilitates all PC meetings
Supports PCs in organizing parent participation in the classrooms and throughout the school
